What to look for when buying a home
The obvious answer is LOCATION, but there is a little more to it then that. The following is a general list (not in any particular order) of things that might or should be considered when looking for Real Estate:
- LOCATION
- PRICE
- SIZE OF LIVING SPACE
- NUMBER OF BEDROOMS AND BATHROOMS
- SIZE OF LOT
- CONDTION OF HOUSE ie. (FURNACE/ROOF/SIDING/WINDOWS ETC.)
- ZONING
- QUALITY OF SCHOOLS
- DISTANCE TO WORK
- TYPE OF UTILITIES (PUBLIC OR PRIVATE)
- NEIGHBORHOOD VS RURAL
- POTENTIAL OR PAST USE OF ABUTTING PROPERTY
- TAXES
- POSSIBLE ASSOCIATION FEES AND RESTRICTIONS
- POSSIBLE DEED RESTRICTIONS
- ISSUES WITH HOME OWNERS INSURANCE
- HOW LONG HAS THE CURRENT OWNER OWNED IT
- HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN ON THE MARKET
The list can go on and on, but you get the general idea. The old saying is -the only dumb question about real estate is the one you did not ask. It is important to not assume things about a house but to investigate things you want to know.
